Welcome Black BBQ
Hosted each fall, this annual family-reunion-style event serves as a vibrant back-to-school celebration that brings together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members from across Black Mizzou. The event creates a welcoming space for attendees to reconnect after the summer, build new relationships, and strengthen the sense of community that makes Black Mizzou so impactful. Guests can enjoy great food, music, games, and entertainment while celebrating Black culture, joy, and unity in an atmosphere filled with energy and connection. More than just a social gathering, the event fosters belonging, encourages collaboration across organizations and communities, and helps set the tone for a successful and supportive academic year.
Black Love Week
LBC presents Black Love Week, an annual celebration honoring the many forms of Black love that strengthen our lives and communities. Throughout the week, we host events that highlight romantic love, self-love, friendship, family bonds, and the power of community connection. Black Love Week creates a space for joy, culture, reflection, and meaningful conversations that uplift and inspire. Through engaging programs and shared experiences, we celebrate the beauty, resilience, and unity found within Black love in all its forms.
LBC Homecoming
Hosted each fall, this week-long program highlights and celebrates Black experiences, culture, and community spaces across campus, creating intentional opportunities for connection, visibility, and joy. Throughout the week, students can participate in a variety of events designed to center Black voices, traditions, and excellence while fostering a strong sense of belonging within the campus community. The program typically culminates in signature events such as the LBC Homecoming Ball and The Culture Collective, which bring together students in celebration, reflection, and shared pride. Overall, the focus of the week is to uplift Black students at Mizzou by providing a culturally affirming experience that exists alongside—and intentionally complements—the broader, predominantly white homecoming traditions, ensuring that Black students feel seen, valued, and celebrated in their full identity.
